BASINGSTOKE and Mid Hants’ boys and girls teams both finished third in their respective Alder Valley League Trophy Finals.

The boys travelled to Reading for their final, with athletes from the Down Grange club winning a total of 14 events.

Tobin Hatton-Brown was the star of the show, winning the under-17 100m hurdles in a new personal best time of 13.6sec, while Jonty Davison won both the under-17 400m and 400m hurdles.

Jake Tucker, Jack Ladhams, Harry Richardson, Ben Pattison, James Beeks, Freddie Guy, Malachi Gair and Joe Warriner were the club’s other A string winners. Ladhams, Jack Burkhill and Adam Richards won B string events.

The top performing age-group were the under-15s, who finished second, while the under-17s were third and the under-13s fourth, helping the club to third overall.

The girls were at Eton for their final, where Lucy Bomphrey was the top performer, winning the under-17 100m and 200m.

Other A string winners were Amber Clare, Freya Davis, Gemma Finch, Devon Brimecome, Evie Wilcox, under-15 4x100m squad and Amelia Cook, who threw the shot a personal best 9.50m to win the under-15 event.

Finch also won two B string events, the under-17 high jump and long jump, while Hannah Weaver and Gwen Leeming were also B winners.

Basingstoke’s under-13 squad finished second, with both the under-15s and under-17s third as the club claimed third place overall.
