BASINGSTOKE RFC ran in eight tries on the way to a 49-15 victory over Haywards Heath at Down Grange on Saturday.

Karl Buttle touched down twice, while there were also tries for Ash Paterson, Steve Hicks, Freddie Gleadowe, Steve Osborne, Alex Tindall and Ryan Davis.

Basingstoke director of rugby James Croker said: “Whilst that was not as good a performance as we showed last week, to gain another bonus point win is always positive.

“We did lose concentration at times to allow them to score but when you look at our overall home performance in the last four games there has been a lot of exciting and good rugby played by us.”

The result leaves Basingstoke third in the London One South table, keeping the pressure on early pacesetters Chichester and East Grinstead.
