Bramley need penalties to reach second round of cup
8:00am Wednesday 17th October 2012 in Sport By Peter Raynbird
BRAMLEY United reached the second round of the Basingstoke Junior A Cup thanks to a penalty shoot-out victory over Bounty United.
There was no scoring until the 69th minute, when Division One side Bounty took the lead through Dave Turner.
But Stuart Leddy played Ben Squibb through for the equaliser two minutes later and, while Dan Burrows regained the Bounty lead, Nick Harris forced extra-time.
Bounty went in front again through Matt Love, whose effort went in off the underside of the crossbar, but Matt Heslin sent the game to penalties late on.
Heslin, Simon Goff, Leddy, Matt Harris and Steve Danton scored in the shoot-out for Bramley, while the only Bounty man to fail was Love, whose effort was saved by Dave Wallace.
