Bison look to continue good form

CURRENT English Premier League leaders the Basingstoke Bison have the chance to record their first double of the season when they travel to the Peterborough Phantoms tomorrow.

On the second weekend of the campaign the Herd enjoyed a 4-0 home win over a side that included their former forward Ondrej Lauko.

Despite the comfortable victory first time around Bison player/coach Doug Sheppard is taking nothing for granted and said: “Peterborough is the toughest place to play in this league. I don’t think in all my time here that I have ever had an easy game there and do not expect anything different on Sunday.”

The Herd have one injury worry ahead of the weekend in Canadian Joe Rand, pictured left, who missed the final period of last Saturday’s 5-0 victory over Milton Keynes having scored twice.

The forward was then ruled out of Sunday’s 2-1 penalty shoot-out loss in MK.

Sheppard added: “I was happy with the three points from the weekend and the home game was our best performance so far. I want us to build on that and make sure we have a consistent effort each game.”

The Phantoms are sure to be smarting from the shut-out last time around and they also lost both their games last weekend, one in Bracknell and at home to Sheffield.

On Saturday night, they have tough game in Slough, so a backlash for the Bison should be expected in a game that has a 5.30pm start.
