Cup tonic for Overton boss Graham
1:00pm Wednesday 3rd October 2012 in Sport By Peter Raynbird
DAVE Graham the Overton manger is due to stand down at the end of the month through work commitments and although his team has yet to win a league game.
They chalked up victory in the first preliminary round of the Peter Raynbird Cup with a 2-1 win at Chineham Albion Reserves.
A throw out by keeper Nick Farthing found Dave Williams and his pass led to 17-years-old Archie Fletcher rounding stand-in goalkeeper Danny Stafford for the lead. Alex Brown equalised from a free kick which forced extra time.
Overton hit the bar through Williams and Fletcher hit the post as they went for the winner and it came in the second period when Mark Thorpe beat two men and found Stafford to score from 25 yards out.
