WINGER Gavin Dampies ran in a late hat-trick of tries as Basingstoke beat Hampshire rivals Gosport and Fareham 53-0 at Down Grange on Saturday.
The hosts scored a total of eight tries without reply, meaning they have now gone two hours of play without conceding a single point.
They made an explosive start, racing to a 14-0 lead after just six minutes, before rounding the game off with Dampies' exhilarating hat-trick.
Ashley Paterson opened the scoring before further tries from Matt Horne and Karl Buttle made it 22-0 at the break.
Jamie Fish and Freddie Gleadowe scored early in the second half before Dampies crossed the line three times in the space of five minutes to complete the scoring.
