BASINGSTOKE’S Chris Wood is heading to Lord’s after Hampshire booked their place in the CB40 Clydesdale Bank final with an eight wicket victory over Sussex at Hove on Saturday.

An incredible late-innings bowling display from the visitors saw the Sharks lose seven wickets for 40 runs.

Wood started it all off as he bowled Matt Prior with the score on 159.

From there the Sharks slumped to 199-8 before they recovered to 219-8, which proved not to be enough.

Luke Wright (122) had threatened to take the game away from Hampshire with his second CB40 century in as many games.

Then an opening partnership of 129 between James Vince (58) and Michael Carberry (68), scored off the opening 12 overs, put the game beyond doubt.

The Royals chased down their target in 33 overs to claim an eight-wicket victory that takes them to a second limited-overs final of the season on September 15.
