'Stoke lose opening game

BASINGSTOKE RFC were beaten 38-23 by East Grinstead on the opening day of the London One South season.

Visiting East Grinstead led 19-6 at the break, Andrew Humberstone kicking two penalties for 'Stoke, and a fourth try early in the second half put them well clear.

Basingstoke attempted to hit back, with Karl Buttle scoring twice and Jamie Fish also touching down, but the visitors were never really troubled.
