European glory for powerlifter Jean Maton

JEAN Maton retained her European Masters Powerlifting Championship title at the event in Pilzen, Czech Republic. Maton, right, competing in the Masters 1, 84kg class, retained her overall title, while also picking up two golds for bench press and deadlift and a silver for squat.
Her lifts were as follows squat 170kg, bench press 110 kg, deadlifted 187.5kg for a total of 467.5kg and a winning margin of 30kg.
In the team event the Masters 1 Women’s team came third out of 11, behind the German and Italian teams respectively.
Maton’s next competition should be the World Masters Powerlifting Championships at Kileen, Texas, USA in October.
