BASINGSTOKE Town chairman Rafi Razzak has this afternoon announced that Frank Gray has been released from his contract as the club’s first team manager.
Razzak took the decision in the wake of Saturday’s defeat away at Sutton United, which left Town 10th in the Blue Square Bet South table, 12 points off the play-off places.
Both Gray and assistant Gerry Murphy have been relieved of their duties at The Camrose, with former captain Jason Bristow taking the reins as first team manager, assisted by Kevin Braybrook.
Razzak said: “We are grateful for the contribution that both Frank and Gerry have made to the club over the past four years. They will always be remembered fondly and we wish them the best of luck for the future.
“We are pleased to announce Jason Bristow as first team manager until the end of the season, with Kevin Braybrook as his assistant. They have footballing targets to achieve between now and the end of the season but if these are achieved they will get the job next season.”
