Full-time - Basingstoke Town 2 Staines Town 1

There were some worrying moments but Town deserved to win and go through to the first round proper for the first time since 2006.

See The Monday Gazette for a full report and Frank Gray's reaction.

90+3 min - Gasson gives away a free-kick and Staines throw everyone, including 'keeper Louis Wells, forward. Simon Jackson sees a header blocked and from the resulting corner, Smart breaks. The goal is unguarded and while Smart fails to shoot, the referee blows up.

89 min - McAuley is booked for time wasting.

88 min - Town fail to clear their lines and the ball breaks for Dean Wells 10 yards out - but his weak shot is straight at Bayes. A lucky escape.

86 min - Warner releases Sills down the left channel and his cross is just behind Pratt, who makes a hash of an attempted volley.

84 min - Town go close as Sills' near post header from Warner's free-kick reaches Lake - but Louis Wells does a good job parrying his close range effort away

81 min - Nathan Smart attempts to run the ball out of defence but he loses the ball and Taylor tries a curler, putting the ball wide.

79 min - Lake gives a free-kick away in a dangerous area but the set-piece is put comfortably over the bar by Dean Wells. Staines replace Everitt with Jesse Kewley-Graham.

74 min - Sills gets a snapshot away but it's comfortably wide of the near post. Staines are huffing and puffing but Town are in control.

60 min - Daly is booked after bringing down Charles-Smith in a bad area. He will miss the first round tie as that was his fifth of the season, if Town hold on to win.

56 min - Tyrell only clears McAuley's low cross as far as Daly, who snatches at the effort, which goes out for a throw.

54 min - A cross from the right has Town in trouble and an unmarked Richard Butler fails to make proper contact, another Staines player taking it away from him slightly.

Staines goal - Poor defending from Town as Scott Taylor plays a fine pass into a gaping gap between Gasson and Little. Little is then outpaced by Marc Charles-Smith, who takes the ball around Bayes before tapping into the empty net.

49 min - Warner gets in down the Staines left and his low centre is begging to be converted - but there's nobody there.

47 min - The striker is soon forgiven as he hacks the ball away from inside the six-yard box after Town fail to deal with an Everitt free-kick.

46 min - Pratt gets in behind the Staines defence but he can only poke the ball wide.

46 min - Basingstoke get the second half underway. Neither side has made any changes at the break.

Half-time - Basingstoke Town 2 Staines Town 0

For 35 minutes there was very little between the sides, Town maybe just edging it. The first goal totally changed the game and the hosts have been dominent since, though they face the wind and the slope after the break.

45+8 min - McAuley gets in down the left but slices his shot into the side netting.

45+7 min - Lake's shot from the edge of the box forces Louis Wells into a low save but he fails to stop it completely and a defender has to clear off the line with Sills lurking.

45+5 min - Staines Adam Everitt is booked for a foul in midfield.

Town goal - Louis Wells poor clearance is fed back into the Staines box and Lake does well to lay it off for McAuley. His effort is blocked, as is Pratt's desperate lunge, but McAuley is on hand to force the ball in.

45+4 min - GOAL - Basingstoke Town 2 (McAuley) Staines Town 0

45+2 min - Big chance for Town as Louis Wells flaps at Matt Warner's corner. Toby Little heads the ball back across goal and David Pratt volleys over from close range.

45+1 min - The ball breaks to Staines' Scott Taylor at the far post - but it's straight at Bayes. There will be eight minutes of injury-time.

44 min - There has not been any action since the goal due to an injury to Staines defender Danny Gordon, who has been carried off on a spinal board. James Tyrell replaces him.

Town goal - Rice launches a free-kick into the area from halfway, Staines allow it to bounce, 'keeper Wells gets caught under it and Jay Gasson does well to hook it home at the far post.

37 min - GOAL - Basingstoke Town 1 (Gasson) Staines Town 0

24 min - Town have an appeal for a penalty waved away as Stuart Lake seems to be clipped as he looks to get on the end of a cross.

19 min - Jay Gasson is perhaps fortunate to not give a penalty away after seeming to push Richard Butler in the area. There's no real appeal but it was the sort of challenge that could have resulted in a spot-kick.

9 min - Daly's attempt to chip Louis Wells from outside the area fails to clear the 'keeper.

4 min - Wes Daly puts Shaun McAuley in behind the Staines defence but the angle is tight and his attempt to curl home with the outside of the foot goes wide.

3 min - The Town defence is caught square by Scott Taylor's pass and it takes a timely clearance by goalkeeper Ashley Bayes to stop Richard Butler scoring.

1 min - Staines get the tie underway, shooting towards the Clubhouse End in the first half. A stiff breeze is in Basingstoke's favour.

Team news - Town manager Frank Gray has made two changes to the side that started when the teams met in the Blue Square Bet South on Tuesday. Delano Sam-Yorke is ruled out with a back injury, with Tim Sills coming in, while Taylor Parmenter is left on the bench, Robert Rice taking his place at centre-back.

Town: Bayes, Smart, Little, Rice, Gasson, Lake, Daly, McAuley, Sills, Pratt, Warner. Subs: Parmenter, Ogunbote, Dunn, Gradwell, Gondwe, Morris.

Staines: L Wells, Jackson, Dunne, Gordon, D Wells, Risbridger, Taylor, Everitt, Butler, Nwokeji, Charles-Smith. Subs: Kewley-Graham, Scarlett, Tyrell, Quan, Allaway.
