CAPTAIN fantastic Nicky Chinn, Basingstoke Bison’s top British points scorer for past two campaigns, has re-signed for the Herd’s forthcoming season.
The very experienced Cardiff-born forward leads by example and made his debut for his hometown team, the Devils, in the 1988/89 season.
From there has gone on to win a stack full of trophies with the likes of Cardiff, Sheffield, Guildford, Bracknell and Slough.
He is one of only three British players in Basingstoke’s history to have chalked up a century of league assists; last season his tally was 49 in an overall points total of 61.
Basingstoke player/coach Steve Moria was delighted to have his captain back for another season and said: “He is a good captain and a leader in the dressing room and is always ready to help the younger players on the team.
“He is still hungry to win trophies and when at his best he can really dominate the corners and is a good power forward.”
Talking about his return, Chinn said: “I am pleased to be back in a Bison shirt and I look forward to leading them to silverware which we so narrowly missed out on last season.”
Unfortunately his fellow Welshman on the team last year, Ben Davies, who joined in mid-term from Cardiff has decided to return to the Devils.
