TONY Redmond is the first re-signing for the Basingstoke Bison next season – a move that will delight the Herd faithful.
The popular Scot is set to become the first player to reach the landmark of 500 league games for the club in the forthcoming season, hence his well-deserved tag of “Mr Basingstoke” in the Bison camp.
The experienced utility player is currently pencilled in to play as a forward, but that could change as the squad takes shape over the summer.
Bison player/coach Steve Moria said: “Tony was the first player I wanted to speak to and sign, so I am really pleased he is back.
“Like me, he is hungry to win trophies. I think we work well together and once again he will be my assistant/coach.”
Looking forward to returning for what will be a 13th season in Basingstoke – having made his debut in the autumn of 1992 – Redmond said: “I am very happy to be back and am very much looking forward to next season.
“I think we improved greatly last year as a team and were very unfortunate not to win a trophy, but it was not to be.
“However, we will be concentrating on the positives from this season.
“And we will be looking to improve on certain aspects, so that we can take the extra step needed to gain some silverware for this club.”
