CAPTAIN fantastic Nicky Chinn will be back for another season with the Basingstoke Bison – and this time he is determined to lift trophies for the Herd.

The Welshman, who feels he has unfinished business with the Bison, is a great re-signing as he can slot into any forward line and make things click – hence why he was being chased by other teams.

The 37-year-old led the Bison in assists last season, bagging 62 in total, and was also the club’s top British points scorer, returning an impressive 77.

Bison player-coach Steve Moria is pleased to have Chinn back on board and has confirmed he will once again be the club captain.

Moria said: “Although he received higher offers from other clubs, Chinny has decided to sign for the Bison. He is a key player and it is important for us to have him back in Basingstoke.

“He is a natural leader and what I really want to see him do next season is lift a trophy for the Bison.”

Chinn is also delighted to be back and said: “I had some offers but I wanted to be on a team that was definitely challenging to win things and with a bunch of guys I enjoy playing with.

“It was tough last season, building a team from scratch, but with a full squad we proved what we could do and how we could beat anyone.

“I think the majority of those players will be back. I enjoy watching the younger players improve and helping them out with the experience I have.”
