'Stoke toil to victory over strugglers

3:36pm Sunday 21st March 2010

BASINGSTOKE RFC recovered from conceding an early try to win 26-7 at home to National Three London basement side Haywards Heath.

The visitors scored a converted try to go 7-0 up just five minutes in and led 7-3 at half-time. Mike Goodall had kicked the Basingstoke penalty and he added three more to make it 12-7 before ’Stoke produced a late flourish.

They crossed the line twice in the final seven minutes, George Scott and Glen Lewis getting the tries, with Goodall converting both.
