PAUL Coltman is the man behind a new Basingstoke-based motocross team that will be competing across the country in this thrilling sport this season.
The team called Racing Creations MX have two top young riders in Brett Wheeler and Zac Blackwell and will be taking part in the two major British Championships.
This form of motor racing takes place off road, on an uneven track that often sees the riders reach speeds of up to 80mph and also jump 50 feet into air, making it a jumping spectacular sport to watch.
Wheeler, who is originally from Bournemouth will be riding a four stroke 450cc Yahama machine, while Guildford-based Blackwell will be on board a two stroke 250cc Yahama. Both are geared up and ready to go for a season that starts later this month. The first race in the Maxxis British Championship is at Little Silver in Exeter on February 28.
The opening round of the Red Bull Pro National is at Foxhill, near Swindon in Wiltshire, on the weekend of March 13 and 14.
Team manager Coltman, from Hatch Warren, is the owner of the motorcycle |service centre Racing Creations UK in the town and is looking forward to an |exciting and successful year.
He said: “I am looking forward to the challenge of running an adult professional team having been involved in sport for over 20 years.
“I think in Zac and Brett we have two excellent riders and we are definitely looking for a top five finishes in the |championships, which should see us on the podium a few times.”
The team boss added: “Motocross is a really exciting sport and the Red Bull Championships is certainly a real family day out that attracts big crowds. I just can’t wait for the season to start.”
The team already have a number on sponsors on board, including Altamura concepts, BWIN.com, Charge Clothing, Dunlop tyres, Expressgyms (Reading), Jay Wright Electrical Services, Motozania.com, NUVO helmets, RXR Armours and WRP race products.
