PHIL Ruggles bagged a first half brace as Basingstoke Town returned from Weston-super-Mare with a 3-0 win.
The striker opened the scoring 10 minutes in, heading home from close range after Sido Jombarti dispossessed a defender and picked him out with the perfect cross.
Town doubled their advantage eight minutes before the break. Matt Warner’s hopeful ball forward found Ruggles in behind the home defence and he showed a good touch to control before firing home.
Ruggles then made the third with a low driven cross. Mitchell Bryant claimed the final touch but it may go down as an own-goal.
Marvin Brown hit the crossbar for the home side in the closing stages but Basingstoke saw the game out to claim their second win of the season.
