BASINGSTOKE Town progressed to the first round proper of the FA Trophy with a 1-0 win over Thurrock at the Camrose on Saturday.
Neither side was able to find a way through during a poor first half shaded by the visitors, though Sido Jombarti failed to make the most of a fine opportunity, missing from six yards out.
The game continued to lack any real class after the break but Phil Ruggles got what proved to be the winning goal 62 minutes in, racing through to beat the ’keeper after Mitchell Bryant had put the pressure on defender Rob Swaine.
