BASINGSTOKE Town took their first step towards retaining the Hampshire Senior Cup with a 4-0 win away at Hamble ASSC on Tuesday night.
After a goalless first half, Carl Gibbs got Town underway early in the second period, tapping home from close range following a corner.
Substitute Phil Ruggles got the second, finishing off a fine team move, before good strikes from Matt Warner and Mitchell Bryant completed the scoring.
