BASINGSTOKE and North Hants missed out on a second league double of the season as they lost by four wickets at Burridge.

Bountymen skipper Mitch Stokes won the toss and elected to bat.

However, he was soon to regret the decision, as Oliver Southon (3-44) removed the first three batsmen, with just eight runs scored.

Sibonelo Makhayna (36) and Max Harsham (15) moved the score to 60, but the pair along with Stokes were all dismissed leaving the visitors on 72-6.

Brad Neal (26) in his last game before returning to college in America and David Griffiths (48) added much needed late runs as Basingstoke were bowled out for 179.

The home side’s reply got off to a solid start, as openers Azimunnoor Chowdhury (26) and Joe Collings-Wells (37) put on 67.

Griffiths then parted them with a smart caught and bowled and then processed to take 5-39, to leave the home side reeling at 76-5.

Unfortunately for the visitors, at this point Daniel Stancliffe took up the mantle with an unbeaten 54 which guided the home side to victory.

Basingstoke are at home on Saturday when Bashley (Rydal) are the visitors.
