BASINGSTOKE and North Hants completed their first league double of the season, as they won at Lymington by 142 runs.

Having been put into bat a rare failure by Chris Jolley left them 12-1, but then thanks to Thane and Craig Williamson (14) they recovered to 48-1, but then lost Williamson and Sibonelo Makhanya with no addition to the score.

This brought Max Harsham to the centre and along with Thane (71) they added 91 for the fourth wicket.

After this, Harsham and Stokes (28) moved the score past 200 and in the end, the visitors declared on 251-9 in the 63rd over.

Harsham top scored with 93 from 132 balls, which included 10 fours.

The home side’s reply got off to the worst possible start as they lost opener Ben Rogers without a run being scored.

He was caught by Martyn James, which gave David Griffiths, the first of his five wickets.

Dominic Hand followed soon after trapped leg before by Stokes (3-22).

Ryan Scott (36) and James Grady (14) gave Lymington some hope, but both departed with the score on 65.

Simon Beetham (17) helped the score to 100-6, before he was caught by Matt Thankachan as Jolley picked up a wicket.

From here only nine more runs was added, as a Stokes’ run out and Griffiths polished the innings off.

This Saturday, the Bountymen are on their travels again at title chasing Burridge.
