BASINGSTOKE and North Hants seconds lost a thriller by two runs at Paultons.

The home side decided to bat first and were bowled out for 229.

Nathan Feltham top scored with 70 and shared a 115-run opening stand with Cameron Grierson (44).

They were parted by Dan Belcher (3-34) and Ash Neal (4-32) who also did a lot of damage with the ball.

Basingstoke’s reply did not get off to the best of starts as Chris Froud departed with only 14 scored.

They then clawed their way back into the contest, but at 188-9 the game looked over.

However, last pair Neal (37) and Keith Harris (20 not out) got the visitors to 227, when they lost their final wicket on the last ball of the game.

Next weekend, the seconds are at home to Tichborne Park.
