BASINGSTOKE and North Hants will meet Hook and Newnham Basics A in the final of the Finch Group Guy Jewell Cup after they beat Old Basing on Monday night at May’s Bounty, by six wickets.

The Bountymen chasing 115 for victory won thanks to an excellent knock of 62 from Sibonelo Makhanya, as Euan Rixson took 2-26.

Basing scored 114-5, thanks to Nick Willcock (39) Bob Selwyn 25 not out and Olly Oldcorn 22. Martyn James (2-29) and Makhanya (2-26) were the chief wicket takers. The final is on August 26 at May’s Bounty.

However, before this Basingstoke face a visit from Hampshire Academy this Saturday.

They will be without Craig Williamson, who top scored with 87 not out in their loss at St Cross last weekend and so Chris Jolley comes into the team, as does Brad Neal for Toby Albert.

Basing's Harry came was the home side's star with an unbeaten 102 in their 261-6 which helped them to a 91 run victory.

Skipper Mitch Stokes said: "It will be an interested on Saturday as Hampshire are a young team and they will not be used to bowling a pitch which does very little."
