HARTLEY Wintney's latest pre-season run out ended with a 2-2 draw at Bedfont Sports.

The visitors held a slight edge throughout the first half and took the lead on 22 minutes.

A long pass from Jack French sent Claudio Herbert free on the left. The winger's pace took him beyond the home defence and he finished well.

Approaching half time, Hartley striker Ross Cook was unlucky when baulked when clean through by a challenge from behind.

Bedfont dominated the entire second half and on 55 minutes Nic Ciardini replaced Cook and a number of other changes to allow the manager to run the rule over the squad members.

The home played fluent football and created several chances.

However it was not until the 78th minute that they finally pulled level.

A right wing corner produced 'pinball' in front of the Row goal. Despite the best efforts of goalie Chris Harris on the flippers the ball went through and into the net.

Hartley improved approaching the end of the match and on 86 minutes regained the lead.

Liam Eagle won a challenge in midfield and played in Ciardini.

The striker continued his recent good strike rate by firing into the corner of the net from 18 yards.

Bedfont surged forward and with two minutes left forced a free-kick on the left.

The low driven kick again produced 'pinball' and with the Row defenders slow on the flippers the ball went through into the net.

This weekend, Hartley are on their travels again to St Ives.
