HARTLEY Wintney have added one and lost one from their squad ahead of the new season.

The new signing is right back Matt Evans, who has represented the Army over 30 times and has also played for Rushden and Diamonds and Winchester City.

Hartley joint manager, Dan Turkington, said: "The talented right back is a formidable opponent for anyone to come up against. We chased his signature from the off."

On the minus side due to a promotion at work Steven Duff has been forced to leave the team due to increase travel, after helping them to back-to-back promotions

The wide midfielder and more recently wing-back will still dual-sign and thus be available to play, but he will predominately play elsewhere.

Commenting on the difficult decision, joint-manager Anthony Millerick said: "He's been a fantastic servant to both the club and myself personally, winning two promotions and two league titles. We thank him for his service and wish him the very best of luck... although we'll see him again at some point."

'Duffs', as he is affectionately known to teammates and supporters alike, made a huge impression in the side from the moment he joined. His pace, strength and exceptional crossing and shooting abilities made him a player every other team feared. More recently he slipped comfortably into a left wing back role, before returning to his more familiar left wing berth to help steer us through the play-offs.

"Off the field, Steve is always friendly and approachable; character mirrored by an excellent on-field disciplinary record, as might be hoped of someone working in education."

Hartley are in pre-season action on Tuesday at home to Frimley Green and they have changed another of their games as Slough Town will now visit on Saturday July 28.
