HARTLEY Wintney got it all right on the Isle of Wight, as they chalked up their first league win of the season, with a thrilling one wicket success.

The home side won the toss and elected to bat and made 203-9, as they recovered from 70-4, thanks to fifth wicket stand worth 70 runs between Ben Herridge (39) and Charlie Sammons (43).

Jamie Teale (2-30) took early wickets and then skipper Rhys Batcup also took a brace, as all six bowlers used took wickets.

The visitors reply did not start well, as they slumped to 75-6, with only Angus Brown (25) making it into double figures in the top five.

Harry Broderick (12) and Batcup (45) put on 60 for the seventh wicket, but then both departed in the space of two runs.

Ben Hyde and Ben Earney took up the mantle getting the score to 161, before Earney was bowled.

So Hyde and Dan Reynaldo saw them home with an unbroken last wicket stand of 43, with 14 balls to spare.

Hyde finished unbeaten on 49 from 37 balls, which included five fours and two sixes.

Hartley Wintney will hope to continue their winning ways this coming weekend, when they are at home to Portsmouth.
