BASINGSTOKE boxer Bryce Goodridge lifted the Elite ABA cruiserweight title at London's York Hall, writes JEFF MITCHELL.
Goodridge was seeded number one in this years tournament after being runner up in last year's final and recent success representing England.
With his quarter final opponent weighing in over the weight limit the Basingstoke boxer had to wait 24 hours to box Priory Parks Corey Clarke in the semis.
There he won a comfortable decision to put him in the final, where he would meet the man he beat in last year's semi final, Callum Beardow of Sheffield City.
After 6 previous attempts to win the title, and boxing in his 112th bout, Goodridgewas not to be denied this year, producing one of his best performances to win a unanimous decision and the England Boxing Elite National title.
Not so fortunate was club mate Jacob Gabriel who after winning three times to get to the quarter finals was unfortunate not to get the nod against Romario Wallace from the Repton Boxing Club at welterweight in an excellent contest that could have gone either way.
