THE Basingstoke Bison Ladies avenged a defeat last weekend over the Swindon Topcats with a 5-2 victory.

Captain Jodie Attrill opened the scoring after a smart pass from Dee West and then 18 seconds before the first buzzer, Hannah Driver passed to Hannah Byron who found the top shelf.

The visitors came out all guns blazing in the second period and scored after eight minutes.

With Swindon on the attack a collision behind the goal left Bison defender Jennie Agass face down on the ice, play continued and Swindon equalised as the home team waited for a whistle.

The Bison took the lead again within a minute, as West’s accurate pass sent Byron clear to score over the shoulder of the visiting goalie.

A minute into the third period Bison’s most valuable player Lauren Pilbeam collected the puck from Tanya Bone and skated round the back of the Swindon net and scored a cracking goal on her backhand.

The victory was completed with Byron’s hat-trick strike, again assisted by Bone.

This leaves the Bison Ladies second in the Women’s Division One South, one point behind leaders Streatham but with two games in hand.

Their next game is Sunday May 6 (6.15pm), when they take on the Peterborough Penguins.
