NEW Basingstoke manager Jason Bristow knows his main job in the next few weeks is to try and keep a good core of the players who have served him and Terry Brown this season.

Bristow has now taken over the helm as former boss Terry Brown takes on the role of Director of Football at the club.

However, both will now be involved in making sure that most of Town's exciting young squad will be abck again at the Camrose next season.

A thrilling 4-3 home win over King's Langley saw the Dragons finish the campaign with four wins in their last five games and with it bagged an excellent tenth place.

Saturday's victory was league win number 17 of the campaign and only champions Hereford and fourth place Kettering won more games at home 19 each.

Bristow knows he he can keep of majority of his squad and add a few more, there is no reason to not think Town could be knocking on the door of the play-offs next year.

Bristow said: " We have a good set of players, who after Christmas proved they are as good as any in this division. We have to try and keep as any as we can, which is not going to be easy with finances, but we have to keep looking to raise funds.

"But of course we don't want to stand in the way of players, if they get a offer which will forward their career. Then we will let them go."

When talking of that Sam Smart is a certainly a player, who has really caught the eye during the campaign and has has been watched on a number of occasion this season.

Now only the summer will tell what sort of team Town will have when they start their friendly campaign in July.
