BASINGSTOKE Town continued their excellent home form with a 2-1 win over visiting Stratford Town on Tuesday night.

The home side made one change to the starting line-up which lost 3-0 at Redditch, with George Bennett coming back in for Jack McKnight.

The Dragons had the better of the first half and Callum Bunting so nearly gave them the lead after 17 minutes, when his looping header was clawed away by Stratford goalkeeper Louis Connor from under the bar.

Soon after, another great cross from Tim Wohfiel was blazed over by Sam Smart from a good position.

The home side finally got their reward three minutes before the interval, when a great cross ball from Argent was met by a superb volley from Smart.

The visitors started the second half the better and levelled things on 52 minutes as Michael Taylor poked home from six yards.

After this both sides went for winner, but with few clear cut chances.

The Dragons went close when Argent's effort was cleared off the line by Lee Thomas.

Then Colm McAdden produced the save of the night as denied Taylor one-on-one by the post.

Then in 79th minute, Argent won a free kick just outside the area and sub Ben Wright produced another piece of dead ball magic to win the game.
