A BUMPER crowd is expected at May’s Bounty on Sunday morning, for the finals of the Finch Group Guy Jewell Cup and the final of the Finch Group Cyril Thompson Plate.

A double whammy of T20 games will see arch rivals Basingstoke and North Hants take on Hook and Newnham Basics on May’s Bounty for cup which starts at 11am.

Then on the adjacent Castle Field, near neighbours Oakley and Overton will battle out for the plate and this game begins at 11.30am.

Basingstoke will be looking for their second trophy of the summer, having already won the Don Lynch Aylward Cup earlier this month and they are still hunting down a treble as they are very much in the hunt for the Southern League Division One title race.

For Hook this could be the first of a double winning season for them, as straight after the final they will be heading to Alton for a semi-final of the Southern League T20 Cup.

Hook were the first of the two sides to reach the final, as in a repeat of last year’s final they beat holders Hartley Wintney by 91 runs last Wednesday.

Hook batted first scoring 179-8, thanks to the Buckingham brothers Matt 44 and Josh 41, while Seb Waddington took 4-37 and Jamie Teale 2-44.

Teale was the top scorer with 23 as Hartley were bowled out for 88, with Kevin Poulter 3-5 and Liam Dorian 3-16 doing the most damage.

The following night, Basingstoke booked their place in the final with 60 run success over Yateley.

Chris Jolley with 50 and Will Phillips 35 helped the Bountymen to 166-4.

Yateley could only reach 106-8 in reply as Ash Neal took 5-11.
