HOOK and Newnham Basics will travel to Alton on Sunday, hoping this time to finish their Southern League T20 Cup semi-final, which last weekend lasted just 28 overs, before rain wiped out the game.

They will return looking to take the scalp of Premier Division Alton in a match which will start at 3.30pm at the earliest, as of course Hook are in Finch Group Guy Jewell Cup final action at May’s Bounty from 11am, before the game on the same day.

The winners of the Hook and Alton clash will take on Havant in the final at the Ageas Bowl on Sunday September 10.

Ahead of this game, Hook are in Southern League Division One action on Saturday, with a trip to mid table Portsmouth.

Last weekend, Hook enjoyed an excellent 71-run victory at home to Rowledge.

The home side got off to a great start thanks to openers Ben Thane (48) and Josh Buckingham (54) put on 104 for the first wicket.

Matt Buckingham (20) and Matt Love (29) kept the scoreboard ticking, before Nick Willcock took up the mantle with a superb 75 not out, which helped Hook to 253-6.

The Rowledge reply suffered the early loss of Jake Wish trapped leg before by Rupert Armstrong, before Nick Morant (38) and Tom Treble (30) moved the score to 72.

The spin twins of Kevin Poulter (1-19) and Anik Divecha (2-41) then got amongst the wickets as the visitors soon found themselves 86-4.

Ian Metcalfe (61) tried to keep the visitor’s in the game, but after Thane (2-16) had taken a couple of wickets in the middle order, Shane Brewer (3-31) returned to mop up the tail as Rowledge were all out for 182.

This afternoon (3.30pm), Hook’s under-17s are in action in the final of the Hampshire Kerry Cup when they take on Compton and Chandler’s Ford at May’s Bounty.
