BASINGSTOKE Town will be hoping to snap their two game losing streak, but to do this they have to dent Kettering perfect start to the season in their own backyard.

The Dragons followed up Saturday’s 3-1oss at home to Frome with a 1-0 defeat at Dorchester on Monday night, meanwhile the Poppies won at title favourites Slough 2-1 and then Tuesday night beat Redditch 1-0 .

Town manager Terry Brown is under no illusion of the task facing his team on Saturday and said: “I felt Kettering were one of the best sides we played last season. They will be one of the favourites this year. If we can go there and get a point I think it will be a great result and if we get three points I will be absolutely delighted.”

Brown is hoping midfielder Ashleigh Artwell will be fit for the trip to Kettering, but Sam Deadfield will still ruled out.

Brown added: “I am disappointed with our start to the season, but we did the same last season and finished 12th. The main thing is not to panic.”

In Town’s first two games of the season, Brown has be delighted with the form of midfielder Dan Collier who missed all pre-season and linked up well Michael Atkinson who re-signed on Monday for the club.

Looking back over the first two games Brown said: “I felt we defended better on Monday than on Saturday, but we still have not scored a goal in open play yet.”
