BASINGSTOKE Gymnastics Club has had a fantastic couple of weeks for their Women’s Artistic squad.

They have had two weekends of competitions where the gymnasts have been performing at the Hampshire Levels at Dynamo school of gymnastics.

Their squad comprises of gymnasts in age from six to 15-years-old, to which Basingstoke represented in almost every level that Dynamo hosted.

Overall they took home 44 medals on apparatus, including three overall champions.

On the first weekend, there two overall winners were Alesha Pusey (level 4J) and Olivia Phillips (level 2J).

Second positions went to Josie Clark (level 4J) and Niamh Lavous (level 3S) and third places to Erin Chestnutt (level 5J), Zoe Perryment (level 4J) and Jessica Siertsema (level 3J).

The following weekend Pippa Stokes took second in Pre Level 5 and Basingstoke finished the final weekend off with three Challenge Level gymnasts competing in Espoir and Senior.

Mia Perryment has worked extremely hard to put new skills out in this competition including a double somersault dismount off bars, a piked tsukahara on vault and some new tumbles and skills on floor and beam.

She managed to get bronze medals on vault and bars, a gold on Beam and came third overall in Challenge Espoir.

Holly Curran and Niamh Taylor are the eldest gymnasts in the Women’s Artistic squad at Basingstoke.

They have spend their time working hard at the gym to build up their level of skills whilst inspiring the younger gymnasts.

They both competed really well at the competition and took seven medals between them in Challenge Senior.

Taylor took two bronze medals on bars and floor and Curran medalled on every piece, bronze for beam and a gold on vault, bars and floor which made her the overall champion.

Lucy Doyle, club manager said: “We hope all of the gymnasts continue to work hard so we can continue to see success coming from Basingstoke Gymnastics Club.”
