HARTLEY Wintney will look to maintain their perfect away record on Saturday, when they travel to Langley Manor in the Southern League Division Two.

With nearly half the campaign gone the village side in recent weeks have climbed into the promotion shake-up.

Last weekend, they enjoyed their biggest win to date as they ended leaders Totton and Eling's perfect start to the campaign, after five straight wins.

On a glorious day it was glorious win which saw Hartley leap frog their way up the table into second and one of the promotion places.

It is a far cry from the same time last season, when the village side were getting sucking into a relegation battle.

A delighted Hartley captain Danny Plume said: “It was a nerve racking win and we did well to wrestle things back taking nine wickets in the last 26 overs, after only taking one in the first 20."

“It was great to see Jamie (Teale) and Will (Ross) get some runs. Now we go to Langley hoping to get another win to keep us in the top two.”

Last Saturday, at Hartley, visiting Totton won the toss and elected to bat and made a good start thanks to Sam Bracey (28) and Daniel Clouting (38) who put on 67 for the first wicket, before Bracey was trapped leg before by Jamie Teale (3-54) Clouting and Mark Mbofana (55) continue to pile on the runs taking the score to 111-2.

Clouting was then bowled by Henry Collier(2-26) and Ollie Perrin departed 13 runs later, as Batcup snapped up a wicket.

This saw Kieran Geyle (25) join Mbofana, and they put on 48 for the fourth wicket, before Mark Teale (2-17 from six overs) removed Geyle.

From here the home side got amongst the visiting batsmen.

Jamie Teale had top scorer Mbofana caught by Scott Baldwin to end his 63-ball knock which included three fours and three sixes.

Next ball, Teale bowled Wayne Lockey and then Blake Darney was run out by Henry Collier as the visitors went from 172-3 to 189-7.

Kumodak Sharma (13) helped Totton past 200, as they were all out for 211.

Hartley’s reply did not get off to the best of starts, as they soon found themselves 47-4, as only opener Will Kerr (15) made it into double figures of the top four batsmen.

Scott Baldwin (13) and Jamie Teale (47) got the home side back on track as they added 77 for the fifth wicket, before Baldwin departed.

Teale and top scorer Will Ross (50) added even more valuable runs, but at 172-7 they still looked a long way from victory.

It was left to captain on the day, Batcup batting at number eight to guide them home.

Along with James Beckwith (6) and then Dan Reynaldo (14) they pushed Hartley closer to their target.

However, as wickets fell the tension grew at the village green.

It was left to final pair Rhys Batcup and Mark Teale to complete a memorable victory.

Batcup finished unbeaten on 35 from 63 balls having hit two sixes and two fours.
