CHRIS Froud and Max Harsham turned on a batting master class as Basingstoke and North Hants II cruised to nine wicket win over visiting Havant II in the Southern League Division Three.

Havant won the toss at May’s Bounty and elected to bat and were bowled out for 203.

Their innings was built around an impressive knock of 94 from opener Andrew Galliers.

Five other batsmen managed to get into double figures, but then failed to get past 18.

The wickets for the home side were spread around as Rakitha Perera led the way with 3-28, while there were two each for Harry Smith, Ashley Neal and Keith Harris.

The Basingstoke reply got off to a great start, as Max Harsham and Chris Froud put on 174 for the first wicket.

Harsham being the only man out as his 82 came from 98 balls and included 13 fours.

It was left to Froud and Chris Oliver to complete the win.

Froud finished unbeaten on 82 from 117 balls and saw him hit six fours.

The Bountymen won with 10 overs to spare, to keep themselves very much in the Southern League Division Three title race. Next for them is a trip to lowly Alton II.
