Will Smith hit another century as Hampshire made it two wins out of two in the Second Eleven Championship.
The Hampshire 2nd XI captain made 136 from only 158 balls (22 fours, one six) before his side clinched a six-wicket win against Essex at The Ageas Bowl.
Hampshire were chasing 299 after bowling Essex out for 243.
Australian all-rounder Ian Holland continued his outstanding all-round performnace.
He followed his 5-46 on day one with 109 (144 balls) as Hampshire declared their first innings 55 runs behind on 294-9.
Then he took 4-90 to finish with match figures of 9-136,with Brad Taylor adding figures of 3-66 to his first-innings 3-60.
Batting at No 3, Holland made another 89 (96 balls, 15 fours) to finish with 198 runs in the match.
Fraser Hay's unbeaten 41 (71 balls) ensured another comfortable win for the home side, following the seven-wicket victory against Surrey three weeks ago, when Smith made 108 not out.
