RILEE Rossouw is definitely out of this week’s Specsavers County Championship match against Yorkshire at The Ageas Bowl.

The Kolpak signing batted through the pain of a chipped bone in his left index finger to make 99 as Hampshire made 438 against county champions Middlesex over the Easter weekend.

But he will miss Hampshire’s third Championship match and the start of the county’s Royal London One-Day Cup campaign.

Director of cricket Giles White explained: “Rilee’s going to be out for a little while so Tom Alsop will come in against Yorkshire.

"We’ll know more after he’s had some x-rays. He batted through a lot of pain on Sunday, it was a marvellous effort. He’s a strong character."

Yorkshire will have Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow available as well as several bowlers who were injured when Hampshire won their first game of the season at Headingley.

“Our first three games are as hard as any we’ll play all season. Yorkshire will have a different side to the one we beat but we’re in a good place as well,” added White.
