FOUR pool players from Basingstoke recently represented England at the European Blackball Association Nations Cup Pool Tournament.

The quartet were JJ Smith (22) from South Ham, Frazier Miller (17) of Old Kempshott Lane along with Cameron Liddiard (17) and Harry Sarnicki (13) both of Chineham.

The four travelled to Coleraine, Northern Ireland for the three-day competition.

Despite tough competition from Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland teams, all four came home with trophies.

Costello Technology College pupil Sarnicki came home as doubles champion and team runner-up in the under-15 section.

Miller battled hard in the All England Team Event final, with his team trailing 10-3, they came back to win 13-11 and take the under-18 winner’s trophy.

Liddiard’s accurate potting at pace ensured he came home with won the under-18s speed pool winner trophy and also finished as runner up in the team event.

Smith showed some excellent individual and team performances and came home as under-23 speed pool champion.

All four also represent Hampshire at county level and are based at the Academy, Basingstoke ,where they practice regularly.

Their next challenge is toThey will represent Hampshire at the Nation County Finals being held at Selsey in March. After this they will all be representing England again at the EBA European Championships in April.
