SARAH Woodward from North Warnborough has been selected to the England Alpine Ski Squad.

The talented 15-year-old skier, attends Robert Mays School and is currently trained by Ambition Racing, based in Leogang in Austria, when abroad and also attends Hemel Ski Race Club when at home.

Woodward’s goals for the coming 2016/2017 season are to achieve a podium finish in one of the races at the British Alpine Ski Championships in Tignes next year.

The teenager is sponsored by HTAS, Atomic UK and Burnt Custard.

Woodward started skiing on family holidays at the age of four and then joined Aldershot Ski Club when she was seven and started competing in the dry slope races in the South East.

The teenager then had her first race in France, whilst on holiday and took up the sport.

Her season runs from October and mid April which consists of being away for a few weeks and coming back to school for a few weeks. She is fortunate to have the support of my school Robert Mays and all the teachers involved in my education Last season Woodward was overall English Champion and British Champion in her age category.

She came third in the slalom and fifth in the Super G at the International race Trofeu Borrufa in Andorra in 2016 representing Great Britain and the team came overall third which is the best achievement for a GB team.

Woodward was also fifth in her first run at the International race Topolino, held in Folgaria Italy.

Topolino is known as the prestigious race with the best racers from different countries.

Looking ahead to this season Woodward said: "This my final season at under-16. I am aiming for another podium at Trofeu Borrufa and to be selected for Topolino again and will be pleased with a top 10 finish.

"I am working hard to hopefully keep the title of British and English overall champion. My future aims are to be selected for the 2019 European Youth Olympic Games in Turkey."
