BASINGSTOKE Town's winless streak in Tuesday night away games continued, as they lost at high flying Chippenham Town 2-0 in the Southern League Premier Division.

The home side gave a debut to signing on the day goalkeeper James Rae from Swindon Supermarine and he was rarely tested in the contest.

The visitors had Marcus Schuster-Johnson back in their starting line-up, but were forced to late change as striker Romone Rose was injured in warm-up so Aaron Redford started.

The Dragons first chance of the game fell to Nana Owusu who fired wide, before the Blackbirds took the lead after 20 minutes from Matthew Jones.

The visitors went looking for an equaliser against a side third in the table, with Sam Deadfield, Michael Atkinson and Owusu all firing wide.

The second half saw the home side start the better and former Camrose favourite David Pratt tested Alex Tokarczyk.

Sub George Hallahan had a shot blocked for the visitors, before with seven minutes left Chippenham's leading scorer Andrew Sandell made it 2-0.

With two minutes left, the home side's centre half Mark Preece picked up his second yellow card of the half, which earned him an early bath, The loss saw the Dragons slip to 11th in the table and they have a break from the league on Saturday with a trip to Staines in the FA Trophy.
