ANDY Pickles scored on his debut for the Basingstoke Buffalo, but it was all in vain as they lost 7-5 to the visiting Wightlink Buccaneers.

This Sunday (6.30pm), the Buffalo will hope to bounce back to winning ways, when they entertain the Bristol Pitbulls.

In last weekend's game it was the Buccaneers who scored first from Daniel Shier, before Mark Austen levelled things assisted by Warren Jones and Pickles.

The sides then swapped goals as Ricky Attrill netted for Wightlink and Michael Gorman replied for the home side.

The visitors then scored against from Kieran Annis to lead 3-2 at the first break.

They then netted the first three goals of the second session from Attrill, Blair Dubyk and Kurt Tyrrell.

Man of the match Greg Martyn reduced the lead, as he finished off a move involving Kyle Goddard and Paul Petts.

The Buffalo cut the lead to two goals thanks to a Pickles' debut goal assisted by Martyn and Neil Leary.

The Buccaneers netted a seventh from Mitchell Brown, before Martyn's second completed the match scoring.
