NORTH Hants May Cup holders Hook opened their defence with an expected victory against lowly Division Two club AFC Berg, beating them 6-0.

Andy Parker opened the scoring after five minutes following a cross from Adam Arthurs and this was doubled when Tom Davies took a pass from James Neville soon after.

The best of the six was scored by Parker after a good move involving four players.

After 52 minutes, Davies scored again, this time Morgan Davies with the assist.

Berg held out for a while with some decent saves from goalkeeper Torren Kirridge, but in the 79th a cross from James Westwood led to James Neville making it 5-0.

Tom Davies scored his third with a follow up after Kirridge had saved his first effort.

Another of the fancied clubs is DC UK and they had a 6-2 win against Twentyten Reserves.

It sounds an easy win, but after they took a two goal lead through Zac Reynolds and Ross Harwood, the home side hit back to level.

It was in the 30th minute when Nick Saunders set up Tom Roworth for the first and then Franklin Spacagna scored the equaliser after Saunders had hit the bar.

Just before half time DC struck again, Trent Barrington with a 25 yard shot.

Jamie Ballantyne made it 4-2, with a header from a Lorne Howard corner and two late goals from Reynolds completed his hat-trick.

Basingstoke Athletic won 4-1 against AFC Aldermaston Reserves, their first win of the season.

Lee O’Grady gave them a 15th minute lead, but in the 41st good play by Carl Allen led to Jamie Edwards equalising.

Two minutes into the second half Athletic regained their lead. Ryan Evans took a free kick and the unfortunate Aldermaston full back put into his own net.

Matt Desay in the Aldermaston goal pulled off a couple of saves, but his defenders were caught out when a move between Evans and Paul Taylor led to Matt Stillwell making it 3-1.

After this spaces appeared at the back and allowed Evans to score the fourth.

Basingstoke United met Tadley Calleva A for the second week running and lost again, this time 3-1 and the thorn in their side was once more Kye Theodore with a hat-trick again.

It was a very close first half with the best effort from United’s Gus Reis who forced fine save from Dave Hicks. It remained goal less until the 65th minute when Jimmy Sallows made a good save from a Michael Abbott shot but the rebound was snapped up by Theodore.

He then made it 2-0 from a Stephen Aldridge cross and although Jamie Self pulled a goal back for United, Theodore scored his third to put the game to bed from a free kick five minutes from time.

Bounty United have not collected a point since promotion, but they found AFC Aldermaston A no problem and came home with 5-1 cup win.

Jordon Willis played a one-two with Craig Williamson for the first after 20 minutes and Harry Warner soon made it 2-0.

Alex Goodall replied for the home side to see the half time whistle go at 2-1.

Williamson soon had Bounty 3-1 ahead and added another from a Sam Hicks cross. and finally Williamson pulled a good ball back for Warner to score his second.

Overton United B travelled to CK Andover and came home with a 2-1 win.

There were no goals in the first half but plenty of chances, with Richard Budd, Jamie Smith and Scotty Winterborne all going close.

Josh Smith gave them the lead in the 60th following a long throw from Armand Ince.

Winterborne made it 2-0 in the 75th and although Budd hit the bar, they could not add to their tally and held firm after CK pulled a goal back in the 80th.

Basingstoke Labour Club are doing quite well since relegation, unbeaten in their opening five matches, but with few missing, they found Twentyten too strong and made their exit losing 6-1.

It was however Dan Poulter’s side who took a fifth minute lead.

Over came a Wayne Barlow free kick, there was no attempt to clear and Taylor Palmer put his chance away.

Joe Hill equalised from a Ben Osborne cross and in the 40th James Arnold put Twentyten 2-1 ahead.

Arnold added another following an unselfish pass from Hill, who soon after went on a solo run and increased their lead.

Joe Osborne added a fifth and the final goal came with a sweet volley from Christian Cox.

Herriard Sports who won the North Hants Junior Cup last season, are through to the second round after a successful trip to Andover where they beat SparTen 6-2.

Simon Jane put Herriard in front after just 30 seconds with a 20 yard strike, but within four minutes SparTen were level.

In the 15th Sam Cato out jumped his marker from a Jane cross to restore the visitors lead and by half time it was 3-1 when Sam Weber took a pass from Cato and went on a 40-yard solo run and cool finish.

In the 50th minute SparTen came back with gift goal from a free kick, but Cato was set up by Neil Minton for a 4-2 advantage.

Chris Smith laid on the fifth for Weber and finally Cato met a cross from Karl Buttle with nice volley to completed his hat-trick.

Winklebury Wizards returned from Sutton Scotney beaten 6-2.

After taking a 15th minute lead when Richard Lowther met a Scott Large pass and with his first touch had the ball in the net. Scotney equalized and by half time were 5-1 ahead.

Wizards did improve in the second half but could only manage the one in reply. Large was the scorer after taking on three men and placing into the bottom corner.

All first round losers of the May Cup go into the North Hants Junior Cup.
