IT IS two in and two out for the Basingstoke Bison as they look to get back to the winning formula which was so successful for them last season.

Head coach Doug Sheppard has rung the changes after another disappointing weekend where the Herd walked away with one point from a possible four.

Following the 4-2 defeat to the Telford Tigers, the team’s fifth loss of the season, Sheppard made the decision to release summer acquisitions Petr Polodna and Jakub Barton.

However, the Bison gaffer was quick to replace the duo with Derek Roehl and Jan Jarabek coming in, in a bid to kick start their campaign and start moving up the English Premier League table.

“We need to get results, no matter how we get them we need to start playing the hockey we know we can,” Sheppard told The Gazette

American-born Italian Derek Roehl is no stranger to the UK game having previously made appearances for Fife Flyers, Braehead Clan and Manchester Phoenix, with the 28-year-old scoring over 100 points during his time in Britain’s top division.

Defenceman Jarabek joins the Herd having spent most of his career playing in his native Slovakia, while he has also played in Germany and Kazakhstan. The duo are expected to make their debuts against Sheffield Steeldogs.
