BRAMLEY racing driver Max Walton made it four wins on the trot after a double success at Snetterton in the BMW Kumbo Tyre Championship.

The first day of racing at the Norfolk track saw the track was exceptionally slippy due to the poor conditions and persistent rain.

In qualifying Walton, second in the drivers’ championships got himself in clean air and secured pole pole position.

Championship leader James Ford had experienced a problem with his car so started from the back and his other main class rival Guiseppe Callari just did not have the pace, the race was not for another three hours and still the rain persisted. The race started and the whole pack got a clean start, Walton picked off a couple of the class CC cars to keep a solid lead.

Walton said “I could see Ford coming up through the pack and getting closer and closer but then he span, the conditions were difficult and as I had a comfortable lead I didn’t push too much more and come in first in my class.”

The weather the following day was dry and warm and although Walton had a car between him and Ford he knew Ford would push him hard.

However, he got another clean get away and pulled away from Ford quite quickly building up a six second lead.

The Bramley driver was then racing with a class CC car who was determined not to let him past.

As the laps ticked by Ford was gaining, Walton did a few lunges on the class CC car getting through only to have them overtake him again on the straight.

Walton knew he had to make the next move stick as Ford was very close, he finally managed to out brake Kevin Denwood driving the class CC car on the dogleg.

He got a better exit and this time stayed ahead, Denwood was then holding up Ford, so when the chequered flag came down, Walton had won his class, by only by a second.

The double victory leaves Walton second in his class in what is his rookie year.

The final races of the championship are at Silverstone on the weekend of October 8 and 9.
