THE Hatch Warren Phoenix Fire completed their pre-season tournaments in Braishfield, by winning the Plate final It erased the heartbreak of losing in the same Plate final last season, this time the Fire beat Alderbury to take the trophy.

In a tense final, the difference was a 20-yard blast from Josh Carpenter.

Charlie Boyt and Harvey Dolton were rocks at the back, , while Isaac Haines marshalled the midfield.

The semi-final saw another 1-0 victory over Romsey.

Jay Levitt was brought down in the penalty area. Levitt then coolly stepped up and buried the ball into the corner of the net.

The Fire forwards caused the Romsey defence havoc throughout the match as Jack Moria and Danny James used their blistering pace to ghost past defenders.

In the qualifying group stage, the Fire had goalkeeper Berri Lamont to thank as he made numerous saves.

Managers Steve Moria and Spencer Haines were immensely proud of the lads fighting spirit and excellent play.

Looking back over the tournament, Moria said: “Most importantly we want the boys to enjoy playing football. Winning the Plate trophy is an added bonus and a reward for the boys hard work.”
