BASINGSTOKE powerboat racer Daisy Coleman and her brother Sam Coleman will be looking to maintain their lead in the P1 Superstock British Championship, when they travel to Cardiff Bay for this weekend's penultimate meeting of the championship.

The Pertemps Recruitment Network team built on their early season success in their last outing at Gosport and now head the standings 25 points.

Having proved themselves in the season opener in Scarborough battling up to four metre swells and followed this up by dominating the inaugural Scottish Grand Prix in flat calm conditions.

They headed to Gosport for round three, knowing that the Solent would bring us a fresh challenge.

Although the wave heights were nowhere near as big as Scarborough, the infrequency and random wave patterns makes them testing.

With a 21 point lead in the Championship, they were determined to finish all four races over the weekend to protect their lead.

So they decided to play it safe on the first day of racing securing a steady start with a fifth and third.

Conditions worsened the following day and with two races running back-to-back, they decided to pull out all the stops.

The Colemans won the first race and then achieved a third, despite losing engine trim which proves critical to ensure the boat attacks each wave at the correct angle.

This saw them finish second overall behind the impressive Team Experience Kissimmee whose crew have been racing boats successfully for 25 years.

After the next races in the Welsh capital this weekend, the season finishes on the first weekend of September, back on the south coast in Bournemouth.
