THE Basingstoke Bison have completed their team for the forthcoming defence of their English Premier League title with the re-signing of British netminder Dan Weller-Evans.

The 22-year-old Welshman returns for a third season with the Herd and will once again fill the important role of back-up goalie to import Tomas Hiadlovsky.

Last year, Weller-Evans, who came through the Bison junior programme played in five games.

He was called into action in late November, when Hiadlovsky was injured in the eighth minute of a home game with Hull and helped the Bison to victory.

Then later on in the campaign, he shared a shut-out with Joe Baston also at home against Hull.

Weller-Evans also showed that as well being able to stop shots, he could also dish them when he was involved in a fight with the Sheffield back-up goalie in the middle of the season.

Bison head coach Doug Sheppard is delighted to have slotted in the final piece of his team jigsaw and said: “Dan (Weller-Evans) is getting better every year and gets along really well with Tomas (Hiadlovsky).

"He knows what his job is on the team and it is a difficult one, but I am really pleased to have him back for another season.”

Returning netminder Weller-Evans said: “I am pleased to be back. I have been a back-up for a few years now, so I have a routine for game days and I am always ready to play.

"It was great to play a part in a league winning team last season and we look just as strong this time around.”

The Herd will unveil the design of their new shirts on Wednesday night , at the club’s season launch night to be held at new title partners Sherfield School.

Fans will also get the chance to pick for their season tickets for the forthcoming campaign, and as well as Sheppard a number of Bison squad will be there on the evening.

The event gets underway at 7.30pm with supporters requested to meet in the main reception where they will be directed to the venue.

Sheppard said: “It should be a great evening for the fans to pick up their season tickets and also get their first look at the shirts we will be wearing this season.”
