THE Basingstoke Bison have added even more firepower to their forward lines as they look to retain their league title.

The latest additions to the Herd are new import Petr Polodna and the re-signing of top Brit Alan Lack.

Czech-born centreman Polodra will make his British debut in the autumn having played the whole of his career in eastern Europe.

Last season he played for SK Horacka Slavia Trebic scoring 13 times in a points haul of 23.

The previous season he suited up in Poland with JKH GKS Jastrzebie who finished second in their championship and Polodra plundered nearly a point a game with 38 from 41 games.

The 34-year-old stands 5ft 10in and has had a very consistent career in his homeland with his best season being in 2013/14 when he played for HC Havlickuv Brod and returned 41 points, the season before he was captain of the team and therefore should bring some leadership skills to the Herd.

The new arrival is looking forward to playing in England and has played against new team mate Tomas Karpov.

The arrival of Polodra means the Bison now have only two import slots to fill and Bison head coach Doug Sheppard feels he will be the ideal replacement for the departed Joe Greener.

Sheppard said: "He is a guy I feel will fit in very well with the team we have and it makes sense to go down the import route to replace Joe."

The head coach is also delighted to have re-signed feisty British forward Lack and said: "He was a player I wanted all summer and he is a great energy player who puts his body on the line for the team."

Lack will return for a second season with the Herd and is looking to improve on his career high season last term.

The 23-year-old Bracknell-born forward scored 15 times in a points tally of 32 from 42 games and linked up really well with fellow returning players Ciaran Long and Karpov.

Talking from his home in Essex, Lack said: "I have set myself a goal to do even better this season and how can you not enjoying playing with Tomas and Ciaran. I learnt a lot from them. I won't be changing my style of play I will still be going in where it hurts to win the puck and to score goals. My aim every game is to win for the team and the fans and I think we have a great team already and will be hunting some more silverware this season."

A week tonight the Bison will are holding their season ticket night where more news will be released.
