DAREN Bavister has been called up for England’s friendly game with Australia at Sunderland tomorrow night, but do not fear he will not be playing, but the man behind the mike.

It has been a whirlwind raise for the match day announcer at Reading FC and the Basingstoke Bison.

Only last weekend, Bavy as he is more popularly known, made his Wembley debut for the Non League finals day.

He impressed the powers the be so much with his performance and with England's usual announcer unable to make the Sunderland game, he has been given his chance.

Bavister said: “It is just amazing I am really looking forward it."

He really enjoyed his day at non league’s showpiece day which saw Hereford surprisingly beaten 4-1 by Morpeth in the FA Vase final and then FC Halifax caused another shock as they beat Grimsby 1-0 to take home the FA Trophy.

Bavister said: “I knew it was going to be a special day as soon as I parked the car at 8.15am and the fans were already there waving their flags and the cars all had the team’s colours in them. It was really intense doing back to back games and the atmosphere was amazing in the place. The first game was great as there were a lot of early goals, while the second game was more cagey.

“I think the strangest thing was going pitch side with a Bull the mascot of Hereford, but it was a great experience and think doing the ice hockey play-offs finals really helped as there you do back to back games.”
